Getting Your Teeth Whiter and Brighter

There are thousands of teeth whiteners on the market now. How many times have you met someone for the first time and scanned his or her facial features? Most people will tell you the first thing they notice are the eyes. Making eye contact during a conversation is a natural instinct. At some point in time, your eyes will then turn to the mouth area of the other person especially when they smile or laugh. Many will agree that your smile is an indicator about who you are. Smiles are a multicultural form of communicating no matter what language you speak or your country of origin. A smile also warms up a conversation and relaxes the atmosphere. Some people are embarrassed about their smile if they have discolored teeth and will avoid lengthy conversations if possible. However, with all the techniques and advances in modern dentistry, there is no reason for anyone to be disadvantaged when it comes to having a nice white smile. Solutions to a brighter smile can be found on both the drug store shelf and in the dental office. The chemical processes are very similar, the only difference is the speed and cost at which process takes to complete. Here are some of the methods that are commonly available: Bleaching Gels
One of the most common teeth whitening techniques uses a bleaching gel. With this procedure, the dentist applies a clear whitening gel to the surface of the teeth enamel. This gel contains tiny crystals that cause the teeth to whiten through a chemical process as it penetrates the surface of your teeth enamel and dentin. Laser Gel Bleaching
It's not surprising that this is the highest priced procedure, because it is the fastest and used most often by "The Stars of Hollywood". In this procedure, the bleaching gel process is simply accelerated with the use of a laser in the dental office. Although it takes only minutes, it may take you a year or two to pay off your credit card! Frustrated by the costs of an office cleaning? Well there is some good news when it comes to teeth whitening. Nothing beats a good old home remedy when it comes to a brighter smile and nature provides most of them. Take one Strawberry,(ripe) and crush and mix it together with one spoon of baking soda. Once the paste is complete, spread it on your teeth with a soft toothbrush and leave on for about five minutes. After the five minutes has elapsed, brush your teeth as you normally would to remove the excess mixture. I recommend you use this only twice a month, as the malic acid in the strawberry can cause premature erosion of the enamel. Another home remedy is to use a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide mixture. Mix the two together to create a paste with the same consistency as regular toothpaste and brush with it. Be careful not to ingest or swallow the mixture, as peroxide can be poisonous. Smile and say "Cheese"! |
