Heavenly Mountain Resort, Lake Tahoe

Heavenly Mountain Resort is a skiers dream! What more could you ask for when it comes to winter activities. With 4,800 acres of land and located on the California-Nevada border in South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort is one of the largest ski resorts in California. The resorts’ highest mountain, Mt. Heavenly, reaching 10,100 feet at the summit, has an amazing view of the lake and over 4,800 acres of trails for both the beginner and advanced skier. Heavenly Ski resort also has a beginner's park and ski school, including an array of "Perfect Kids Ski and Ride" programs. There are plenty of challenging trails and programs for the advanced as skier well, such as a two-hour tour, in which you Ski with a U.S. Forest Ranger. For those who wish to visit in summer, you can take Heavenly gondola ride up the mountain and enjoy a spectacular view of the lake. In fact, you can catch an amazing 360-degree view of the lake and the mountains that make up Lake Tahoe. The ride lasts 12 minutes and travels 2.4-miles. As you ascend up the mountain, you can take advantage of great photo shots that you find on many local postcards. Your journey will end at Lake Tahoe's highest summit where you find plenty of places to eat and take a break. There are also many hiking trails to explore before taking the scenic ride back down to the valley floor. The Lake Tahoe area has much more than skiing, for both winter and summer seasons. Once your day has ended on the slopes, you can enjoy the Casino nightlife down at South Shore Tahoe. At South Shore Tahoe, you can experience some of the most popular names in gaming, and some of the best entertainment around. Lake Tahoe is a winter wonderland in the ski season and perfect for boating and swimming in summer. No matter what the weather is, the Tahoe Valley has something for everyone! |
