Horse Riding Styles and Saddles
By Tony Lee
Equestrians will tell you that one of the most important items that involve riding is the saddle and seat. Equestrian saddles vary depending on the riding style and purpose. They come in many sizes, shapes, and materials. Prices for saddles can easily reach many thousands of dollars. Many competitors make large investments to purchase show riding equipment such as Blue Ribbon, Western Show Saddles and riding accessories. These types of saddles are normally made from the best leather and contain precious metals as decorations to aid in cosmetic design and impress the judges during competition. Fancy headstalls, bridles and spurs are the decorative part of the competition, and are just as important as the riding style of both horse and rider. English Riding is another style and form of riding. The saddles for this type of riding style are generally smaller, and much effort is put into making these saddles appear much more elegant than the western riding saddles. By design, they have less parts and tend to be much lighter than other styles of saddles. Although many styles of saddles exist, each one in its own way should considered as works of art. If you ever attend a riding competition event, remember that the horse, rider and riding gear are a complete team. I guess that's what makes it so exciting! http://www.westernshowsaddles.net/Western-Riding-Saddles/Western-Show-Saddles http://www.westernshowsaddles.net/English-Riding-Saddle-Tack/English-Saddles |
