Visiting Old Town Sacramento

Not only is Sacramento the Capitol city of California, but it is also the center of the "Gold Rush" period of history. Old Town , one Sacramento's most popular tourist attractions, is located only 10 blocks from the state Capitol. It's a very scenic and historical part of Sacramento. One of the biggest attractions is the Railroad Museum located in the northern section of Old Town. It is considered North America’s most popular railroad museum, there is something there for the whole family! Many attractions include restored Antique trains, eye catching exhibits, and special events that are scheduled throughout the year. During the months of April-September, you can even ride behind a real steam locomotive! For those of you who are model railroad collectors, you can visit the Toy Train Exhibit. This popular exhibit features some 1,000 vintage toy trains, 6 interactive railroad displays, and a fascinating toy train layout covering 3,300 square feet. The restaurants in Old Town offer something for everyone. The Firehouse Restaurant, one of the most popular delicious gourmet food attractions is located in the center of Old Town. Sacramento's Old Town is definitely a place you will want to visit, as it provides entertainment for the entire family! |
